It uses 2 fans taken from an old PC and cheap PWM controller from AliExpress to change the fan speed. The connector at the end of an old power brick was cut of to supply 12 v to the fan.
I’m amazed at how much this upgrade improved performance! I haven’t measured the change scientifically, but with the fan on full blast (which is admittedly loud), my frame rate in Forza Horizon 4 went from 18–30 FPS to a steady 36 FPS most of the time. I can’t believe how well it works!
With the fan running, I can even play Cyberpunk 2077 at around 32 FPS, locked most of the time, which is impressive for integrated graphics.
